Inescapable Effects

Computers have replaced people in many ways. In the movie world, programmers have taken the place of cameramen while actors definitely have some competition from the lifelike computer images seen on films. As bandwidth and compression improves, film piracy via the Internet will remain a growing problem. Technology has allowed users to compress movie files and download them onto CDs. Movie studios are working out Internet distribution deals to enable movies to be sold directly to consumers.

Theater companies are also doing their part to recapture the excitement of going to movies to further discourage piracy. Theaters are being made bigger and more interactive. Motion simulators and theater seats equipped with hydraulic lifts to allow movement and rocking to go along with the events on the screen are being tested for audience acceptability.
